• New Traditions Riding Academy, LLC is the academy program of Palos Hills Riding Stables, Inc. located in Palos Hills, IL. This facility is family owned and run and was previously purchased by the late Charles Thompson of the New Parkway Riding Stables (located in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago, IL). Many top riders and horses have come through the gates of Palos Hills Riding Stables, Inc. and we continue to honor the pride and the passion that Chuck Thompson had established when he first moved here in 1960.

• Today we offer group and private lessons, summer camp programs, pony rides, birthday parties and an occasional wedding. Learn how to ride to enjoy the trails, or perhaps to dabble in the smaller local shows or jump into the deep waters of professional horse shows on the national level... you too, can ride the green shavings of Louisville at the World Championship!

The New Tradition of Family Time

The new family time; spending quality time together at a stable with three generations of experience at blending families and horses in a pastime that can last a lifetime. Share the excitement of mastering a new riding skill or shake off the rust in time for a summer trail ride. All family members, from ages 5 to 85 can experience the enjoyment of learning how to ride our American Saddlebreds (we have other breeds as well). Or, are you game for something a bit different? How about learning how to drive a Hackney pony? From riding lessons to riding the trails, making new friends or renewing old friendships, demonstrating your new found skills in our school horse show or trotting down the green shavings at the World Championship Horse Show; whatever you dream, our experienced instructors can help bring this experience to life for you. And, a bit more. The staff at New Traditions want you to realize your dreams...so, come out and visit our facility. Bring your family. Spend some time with our family. And, fall in love with horses all over again.

Services Offered:

RIDING LESSONS: Group or private, adults or children, 3 to 85 years of age......we've got you covered!  We are currently offering the new late winter/early spring schedule that features a class for those riders who are 45 years and over, a special "hands on" class that will allow our riders to just simply bond with horses from the ground (no riding), an aerobic boot camp class, a working pleasure class, as well as offering an extended private lesson program for all ages of riders.

SUMMER, WEEKEND AND HOLIDAY CAMPS:  Fine tune your horseback riding experience with a dose of summer camp; a combination of riding and horse care all bundled up in one week......or join one of our weekend camps to have a full day of your favorite horses. We have a special holiday camp around the December holidays to keep the energy high during the holiday season!

BIRTHDAY PARTIES: We feature birthday parties where your child can be the star; select one or two hour packages, horses or ponies, your choice. A beautiful party room is available for your use for presents, cake and pizza as well.

GIRL SCOUT AND BOY SCOUTS AND OTHER SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS:  We offer special riding programs for your scout group to help them with their badge work; we have horseback riding lessons and barn activities that will introduce your group to the world of horseback riding with our kind horses and our patient instructors. Pony Rides

Do you have a younger family member who wants to ride?  We have pony rides for $2.00 per minute!  Also, please call us for information on birthday parties and in-house pony parties!
